More than five million students in the United States are victims of bullying. North Wood R-IV School District is drawing attention to the issue in order to stop bullying in our schools. Here are some tips for students who are victims of bullying in school:
1. If you are being bullied, tell a trusted teacher, counselor, or have your parents talk to the school.
2. Do not retaliate or get angry
3. Respond firmly and confidently, or say nothing and walk away with your head high
4. Develop friendships and stick up for each other
5. Act confident, not scared
6. If you are being bullied before or after school, let your teacher or bus driver know.
7. Avoid unsupervised areas of school
8. Do not bring toys, expensive items or large sums of money to school
Bullies become more severe as students get older, so it is very important to talk with your child about bullying even as they move to high school. North Wood R-IV is taking action against bullying, and talking with your child at home will go a long way! |
